HOW CAN OUR COMPANY USE
AN INTERACTIVE MYSTERY?
While
interactive mystery shows are frequently used as dinner entertainment, MURDER
TO GO has created captivating and involving interactive productions as lunch
time events for such companies as SCHERING PLOUGH and LUCENT, daytime team-building
events for such companies as AT & T and T and IBM, morning session kick-offs
for companies such as WOMAN'S DAY and JOHNSON & JOHNSON and educational programs
for companies such as REVLON and BENKISER. Since what we do is custom tailored
to each and every client, we determine our clients needs and goals and then design
a program that accomplishes it.
HOW LARGE A GROUP CAN
AN INTERACTIVE SHOW BE PERFORMED FOR? MURDER
TO GO has produced functions for groups as small as 11 and as large as 500, although
we have produced main stage productions for an audience as large as 1,700. The
amount of audience involvement will somewhat descrease with the increase in the
number in attendance. Wireless microphones and staging are required once the
audience grows larger than 150.
WHERE CAN
AN INTERACTIVE MYSTERY BE PERFORMED?
Anywhere
from hotlel and restaurant banquet rooms to mansions and state parks. MURDER
TO GO has even created shows for on board dinner yachts and private railroad
cars - including on board the real Orient Express. The only main requirement
is a single space that can accomodate all guests at once, or two spaces that
the audience can be divided into, for the performance of the finale.
MUST THERE ALWAYS BE
A MURDER?
NO
and YES! As a professional business theater company, MURDER TO GO/MTG Inc. has
produced a wide variety of events, both with and without mystery themes - such
as "Corporate Spirits", an interactive comedy seance with magic & illusions
for UNION CARBIDE and "The R-PRO $64,000 Question" an humorous educational product
product kick-off for REVLON.
For a mystery event
to keep an audience involved and entertained over a long period of time such
as a dinner or teambuilding event, the crime must be one that demands action.
And nothing demands justice and is more dramatic than a murder. Rest assured,
we never use blood or gore in our productions and everything is done stylishly
and in good taste. We are always aware of coporate and audience sensitivity and
all our scripts utilize humor and are rated "PG". There is also that fine line
of not making the mystery too hard or too easy. We gear our mysteries to have
around 10% solve it correctly.
HOW LONG DOES
AN INTERACTIVE MYSTERY LAST?
While
the average dinner program lasts three hours, custom created events can last
as long or as short as the clients needs and desires. For MCI and TOTAL TRAVEL
MANAGEMENT the event began with scenes throughout dinner and concluded the following
day with a half day of investigative teambuilding. For IBM the teambuilding adventure
began at breakfast and concluded by lunch, while for companies such as AT & T
and LUCENT we have produced numerous daytime events that have encompassed lunch
and ended by "tea-time". For ZENECA PHARMACEUTICALS, we created a mystery event
that concluded within an hour and a half to accomodate their guest doctors schedules.
DO YOU TRAVEL?
Of
course - our name is MURDER TO GO! From Scottsdale for JOHNSON & JOHNSON
to Venice and the Orient Express for WABC RADIO, from Woodstock, Vermont for
APPLE COMPUTER to Jacksonville, FL for IBM, from Landsowne, Vr for MCI to Dallas
for REVLON, our production staff and cast will go wherever your meeting is.
MUST THE CAST BE BROUGHT
IN OR CAN LOCAL ACTORS BE HIRED?
It
is always best to bring in the cast and crew from our base location outside of
New York City. The reason is quality and reliability. While most major cities
now have local weekend mystery dinner shows, many lack the quality and corporate
sensitivity which are essential to a successful business event. The majority
also lack the liability and workmen's compensation insurance most companies require
of an outside vendor.
More importantly, since all our shows are custom
scripted, we rehearse our professionally trained cast for two weeks prior to
the performance date, assuring our clients a production that will really "knock
'em dead". Our company will then arrive on the morning or day before the performance
for final dress rehearsal in the actual location. On
occasion, depending on the style of the event, actors can be hired locally from
our producing affiliates in such cities as Miami, San Francisco and Southern
California, but a producer/director must always be brought in. MURDER TO GO has
even written scripts for our clients to perform themselves.
HOW MANY ACTORS ARE USED?
The
cast requirements are dictated by the script and vary according to the style
of program. Our mini-murder, which was designed for small groups and utilizes
six guests as suspects, has a professional cast of three. A typical dinner show
would have a cast of seven to eight, while teambuilding events utilize anywhere
from seven to ten based on the number of attendees. At least one stage manager
is always present to coordinate and run the production.
